Your Mind Matters Too

October 10th is World Mental Health Day, and at Perform24, we believe it’s important to acknowledge something we see every day in our gym: your mental health matters just as much as your physical health. The truth is, the two are deeply connected.

Next Friday, October 10th, we’re offering a free yoga class led by one of our members, Rachael Casterlin. It’s not just about movement, it’s about creating space to care for your mind as well as your body.

Training has always been about more than just muscles. Ask anyone who’s been consistent in the gym, and they’ll tell you that the reason they keep showing up isn’t just physical, it’s mental. Walking into the gym and finishing a workout is something you can fully control, and in a world that feels unpredictable, that sense of agency is powerful. Exercise also changes your brain chemistry by boosting endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, the chemicals that regulate mood, motivation, and stress.

Every time you hit a new milestone or finish a workout you weren’t sure you could, you’re proving to yourself that you’re capable. That confidence doesn’t stay in the gym, it carries over into how you handle work, relationships, and life’s challenges. Sticking to a training schedule also gives you structure and stability, anchoring your week when everything else feels uncertain. And the people you train alongside matter too. The gym connects you to others who are working toward similar goals, creating community in a world where it’s easy to feel isolated.

Training is also one of the healthiest outlets for stress and difficult emotions. Anger, frustration, and anxiety don’t just disappear, they need somewhere to go. Channeling them into movement is far more productive than letting them build up. That said, exercise isn’t a cure-all. It doesn’t replace therapy, medication, or professional support when those are needed. But for many, training becomes a cornerstone habit that keeps them grounded, balanced, and resilient enough to handle what life brings.

On Friday, October 10th from 12-1pm, we invite you to join us at Perform24 for a free yoga class taught by our very own, Rachael Casterlin. Whether you’re a longtime member or you’ve never stepped foot in the gym, you’re welcome. Take an hour to move, breathe, and give your mind the same care you give your body. Because strength isn’t just physical, and the work you do here prepares you for everything outside of it. Use the link below to register.
