Why Every 90 Days Could Change Your Entire Fitness Journey
You wouldn’t take a road trip without checking your GPS, so why would you commit to months of training without checking your progress?
At the start of any fitness journey, we set goals. Maybe it’s to get stronger, leaner, move without pain, or just feel more like yourself again. But after a few months, life gets busy. You keep showing up (which is a win on its own), but you haven’t paused to ask: Is this working? Am I actually getting closer to what I said I wanted?
That’s where regular check-ins come in. Taking time every 90 days with your coach to assess where you are, what’s working, and what needs adjusting keeps your training personal, purposeful, and effective.
One of the most helpful ways to get objective feedback is through a body composition scan, like the InBody. It tells you what the mirror and scale can’t. You might not see much change on the scale, but a scan could reveal that you’ve gained muscle and dropped visceral fat—progress that matters for both how you feel and your long-term health. You get a clearer picture of what's changing under the surface, like muscle balance, fat distribution, and metabolic improvements. This kind of data gives you confidence that you’re on the right track—or a nudge to tweak your approach.
And let’s not forget the wins you might be overlooking in the gym. Strength progression is easy to miss if you're not tracking it, but it's one of the clearest signs of improvement. Maybe you’re lifting more weight, performing more reps, or moving with better form than you were three months ago. Maybe you’re showing up more consistently or feeling more confident with movements that once felt intimidating. Those are milestones worth celebrating. Acknowledging them reinforces the behaviors that got you there—and that keeps motivation high.
Another reason to pause and reflect: your goals evolve. You may have started out just wanting to “get fit,” but now you’re motivated to run a mile without stopping, finally do a pull-up, or feel strong enough to take on a new challenge. The check-in gives you space to clarify what matters now—not what mattered 90 days ago. Real progress gives you new perspective and bigger vision. You’re not changing your goals for the sake of it. You’re refining them based on your actual growth.
Doing this consistently—every 90 days—creates a powerful compound effect. Each review helps you build momentum, dial in your strategy, and stay connected to your purpose. When you check in regularly, you’re not just training—you’re evolving. You’re creating a feedback loop that supports smarter decisions, stronger results, and a deeper sense of ownership over your journey.
The next 90 days are going to pass whether you're intentional about them or not. The question is: will you review where you've been so you can be strategic about where you're going?
